Soil Type: Deep yellow sand (Pear tree)

This page shows the moisture reading of the Liebe Groups soil moisture probe on our Long term site at Buntine it is updated daily.

The probes, buried 20cm below the ground measure soil moisture to a depth of 1.8 metres and regularly send this data to a computer via the Next G mobile phone network. The probes can only measure water in a 10cm radius therefore growers should keep in mind soil moisture can vary widely across a paddock and farm.

Moisture at different soil depths

The probes has seven sensors which ready moisture at 30, 50, 70, 100, 130, 140 and 180 cm depth. Each depth is represented by a different line.
